What We Offer
Phases of Counseling
This phase involves gathering your history and discussing the process, structure, policies, and procedures of therapy. We will spend some time exploring your experiences, both surrounding and outside your concerns. Along with the assessment and goal development and treatment planning phases, the intake process will take place during the first 1-3 sessions.
An initial evaluation of your situation may take up to 2-4 sessions. During the assessment phase, we will get to know you to understand your worldview, strengths, concerns, needs, family and relationship dynamics, and more.
Since this phase is spent gathering information about your life, you may feel like we are not progressing quickly through the counseling process. However, this step is essential for us to determine if we are the best team to provide therapeutic services for your specific needs. If you decide that we cannot provide you with the appropriate treatment plan, we will give you referrals to trusted mental health care providers who may be able to help you better.
Once we have a good understanding of your background, we will work with you to identify specific goals for therapy. It is important that you have a mutual agreement with your therapist about what you want to achieve so that you can progress toward a better life.
This phase will take place anytime, from your second session to the end of your therapy. You will have to make an effort, both inside and outside of counseling, to implement the solutions we discussed for addressing your issues.
During this phase, we will also review your progress and make adjustments to your goals as needed. If you have any questions about what you have to do during this process, reach out to your therapist.
